Purpose:

This position is responsible for oversight of Library Marketing Programs such as communications, print media and ads, media relations, social media, graphic design, branding, direct mail and other marketing materials responsible for reaching donors and customers. Works closely with Director, Development and Community Outreach to promote and achieve set goals to support Library programs and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Develop marketing strategies and plans

2.      Facilitate marketing of educational and promotional programs and events

3.      Research and develop marketing materials, i.e. brochures, flyers, reports, etc.

4.      Manage marketing campaign projects from inception to execution.

5.      Manage all social media activities (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc.) to promote programs and activities of the Library.

6.      Prepare press releases, presentations, speeches, and correspondence by gathering information, writing copies, editing, and distributing materials to staff and external organizations

7.      Participate in community organizations to promote the Library's image and programs

8.      Assist in planning and photographing events, and manage uploading to Repository/ Intranet as required - brochures, images, templates, videos, presentations, etc.

9.      Collaborate with Web Team on GCPL websites and other web projects

10.  Evaluate marketing, outreach, volunteer, and other program outcomes, and develop success metrics and monitor results of marketing initiatives and programs

11.  Oversee all external marketing vendors relationships, such as sign and graphic art work providers, sign and other marketing vendors as required.

12.  Assist Library administration with developing the annual budget by providing input on department needs and funding

13.  Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

·         Social media platforms (specifically Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat, Instagram)

·         MAC Computers

 

Skill in:

·         Marketing, Public Relations, Communications and Media Relations

·         Developing marketing strategies and plans; Marketing services and programs

·         Delivering strong print and collateral marketing materials

·         Optimizing the use of social media

·         Public speaking, presentations, graphic design and writing

·         Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe CS software

·         Well-developed communication skills including the ability to articulate creative concepts

·         Excellent time-management skills

·         Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field, and three or more years of Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related experience

 

Licensing Requirements

·         Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License       

 

Physical Requirement:

Positions in this class typically require: feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
