Safety Compliance Director

Job purpose 

 

The Safety Compliance Director will develop and oversee all the safety regulations, policies, and procedures for both Warehouse locations. The successful candidate will help to develop, implement and enforce safety standards, policies, and programs. Maintains regulatory audits, certifications, safety training programs, standard operating procedures, standardized work instructions etc.  

 

Responsibilities & Duties 

  • Improve overall DOT score and Warehouse third-party audit/GP, FDA, HAACP. 
  • Develop and provide training for safety and quality requirements. 
  • Ensure all CDL Drivers are in compliance and up to date for CDL licenses, HM endorsements, and medical certifications.  
  • Conduct safety, DOT, and HM briefings with drivers.  
  • Maintain DOT driver files on all CDL Drivers. 
  • Plan and execute on-site educational safety presentations. 
  • Communicate verbally and provide leadership for the emergency action plan.  
  • Ensures the organization is OSHA compliant for all employees, grounds and buildings. 
  • Conduct investigations on all commercial vehicle crashes for infraction of company policy, maintain records, report all accidents to insurance carriers, maintain DOT federal accident register. 
  • Ensures all fleet are in compliance with all DOT regulations including HOS, Maintenance, Safety, and Hazardous Materials. 
  • Serve as primary contact spokesperson between NTA, FMCSA, and DOT officials.  
  • Manage the CDL Drug and alcohol program, schedule random drug tests, and alcohol tests.  
  • Develop and maintain relationships will all testing locations and track facilities and technician certifications to ensure DOT compliance. 
  • Update existing safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements 
  • Work closely with Logistics Director, Managers & Supervisors on safety or quality assurance issues 
  • Manage and maintain Baily’s report for interstate operations affecting IRP registration. 
  • Ensure that all company safety and quality assurance procedures are always followed and documented correctly  
  • Additional duties/responsibilities as assigned. 

  

Qualifications 

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of safety experience, with management-level experience in HACCP, GMP, USDA, or FDA required. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, and GHP’s (Good Handling Practices) 
  • Previous experience with FDA, USDA & GMP audits required 
  • Able to work unsupervised and manage independently 
  • Have strong communication skills 
  • Must be flexible with work hours and days  

Education 

 

Preferred: B.S. degree from an accredited college or university. 

 

Minimum Requirement: Associates degree from an accredited college or university plus 5 years safety experience or any equivalent combination or experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities 

 

 

Skills 

 

Detail-oriented, and possess strong computer skills, including MS Office and Excel 

 

Working Conditions 

  

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working within a fast-paced distribution center, where the employee will need to have the ability to adapt to the work environment. While performing duties, the employee is frequently exposed to dirt, dust, and debris as well as powered material handling equipment and commercial truck traffic.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate will be required to move frequently, stand, walk, reach above and below the shoulders, squat, bend, kneel, and sit.  

The associate is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The associate must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50-75+lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ lbs.
